The Art of Cork

by Claire O'Regan

Design of the Times has been neglected as of late as we have just recently moved to Cork and I have been shamelessly off enjoying myself on holidays and such. However, we are now back in business.

Seeing as I have just moved to Cork I thought it would be quite appropriate to do an article on what the artistic community of the wonderful county of Cork has to offer. I was not disappointed by the wealth of artistic talent but I am sure that will not be a surprise for you to hear. Cork is a cool, friendly, eclectic and vibrant city and the people of the city match those characteristics. See full article

Your Meat Is Mine | Yann Black

by Claire O'Regan

Yann Black

The child like scribbles of Montreal based tattooist Yann Black have gained a cult following over the past number of years. His work is mostly done in black and red ink and has given me some great ideas for that tattoo I am always putting off getting. The abstract style gives it a real unique feel and his straight lines and attention to crazy detail are superb. It's kind of what I imagine Tim Burton's work would look like if he was a tattoo artist. See full article

Katie Kavanagh | Photographer

by Claire O'Regan

Katie Kavanagh is a photographer and graphic designer living in Waterford. Katie’s photography concentrates on the commercial side of the medium as well as a more abstract and art influenced side. You know someone has a true talent when they can take an inanimate, seemingly uninteresting object and make it burst to life! She has a raw talent for making things and places that are apparently dreary and dismal, beautiful. Her commercial work also speaks for itself, as she was recently contracted by Channel 4! Design & Anna Faye Leather Handbags

by Muireann Charleton

AINE BCOC BROWN AND TANGERINE

Design first begins as an idea – a thought, an image. In the designer’s world, their idea is flawless, and so is the object they will create. Klickity

by Claire O'Regan

When I saw Klickity online and the products they create, I was immediately excited. Their products are so unbelievably cool, fun and contemporary. They are the kind of company that think outside the box. They are not constrained by boundaries and come up with unique and exciting ways of designing in a creative and sustainable way. Their Fanfare Wall Clock is flat packed and then the customer gets to fan out the clock in the way they want it to look. In a similar vein is their Klip Notice Board. The hexagon shape of each piece allows the customer to arrange it in whatever way they feel suits them. See full article
